~23rd December~ A Marshmallow World in the Winter

Hi all,

Being as we are well into the festive preparation season, and I've been watching Christmassy cookery shows all day, I have decided to distract myself (and everyone else)  from my rumbling tummy with one of my most favourite things about Christmas: The Gingerbread House.

As anyone knows me well can tell you, I love my desserts; making and eating, but the one project I've always, ALWAYS wanted to try was a gingerbread house because there's such a huge scope to work with, from the shape and the design of the house to the sweets used to adorn the house. They can be charming and romantic or they can be completely tounge-in-cheek and it's this gargantuan range that I wanted to share with you today. So, grab your apron and chef's hat and let's go!

First, is this simple but gorgeous house which I love because of it's really fancy piping work, (Something I really hope to learn if Santa does bring the piping bag I asked for  ^^) and the whole complex design of roof and the windows.

This, is simply too cute for words! I could quite happily live here... <3

This, is the ultimate gingerbread/cupcake house for any self respecting Sweet Lolita.

I love gingerbread and the movie 'Up' so what could better than a sugary replica of Carl and Ellie's home? Shame it didn't have the balloons on it really...

And now for something completely different... a gingerbread laptop. Yeah, so this is one for skilled decorators but for the master engineer. But still kudos for actual mouse. <3

If you're a hopeless romantic like I am, why not bring the City of Love to your kitchen with this adorable,  snowy Eiffel Tower?

Or if you need to impress any circle of nerds, how about this awesome gingerbread TARDIS and K-9?

And finally, how about this adorable decoration to finish off a lovely mug of hot chocolate or coffee?

So, in conclusion, gingerbread houses range from the sublime to the bizzare and they're the ultimate project to bring together so many people: architects, designers, crafters, geeks, artists, kids, parents and the young-at heart. And it's only occurred to me I've just described myself, my friends and family...

Oh well. Long live the gingerbread house and I can't wait to learn the skills to make them one day. Now where is that gosh darned obsessive compulsive architect best friend of mine...

I'll see you soon blog,

Love,

Katie
xx
